Exchange Program Agreements

An exchange contract is the mutual exchange of students for the purpose of acquiring credits for the conclusion of a contract. Departments and faculties can request a new exchange agreement with an international partner to facilitate international exchanges of students and ideas. Please note that the International Student Services Office only handles student exchange agreements. Soft ones, which involve exchanges of faculties or research cooperation, are coordinated separately by the Office of the Vice-President (Research and International). You can find the contact information for this office below. These programs are usually organized in exchange for medium- and long-term courses that last a semester or academic year, while short-term programs, such as summer, winter and spring programs, are also popular with students. International mobility through academic exchanges is actively encouraged at both the university and departmental and faculty levels, with departments and faculties generally focusing on specific academic areas. Kyoto University is dedicated to promoting global citizens and expanding its network of partners for student exchange programs and offering its students a wide range of destinations to study abroad and explore new horizons. Typical formats for general and program agreements are available on request.
